- Generate MATLAB code from natural languageInstall dependencies:
npm install
Build the server:
npm run build
For development with auto-rebuild:
npm run watch
To install MATLAB MCP Server for Claude Desktop automatically via Smithery:
npx -y @smithery/cli install @WilliamCloudQi/matlab-mcp-server --client claude
npm install -g matlab-mcp-server
Or clone the repository and build it yourself:
git clone https://github.com/username/matlab-mcp-server.git
cd matlab-mcp-server
npm install
npm run build
To use with cline , add the server config:
On MacOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
On Windows: %APPDATA%/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json

Replace /path/to/matlab/executable
with the path to your MATLAB executable:
C:\\Program Files\\MATLAB\\R2023b\\bin\\matlab.exe
/Applications/MATLAB_R2023b.app/bin/matlab
/usr/local/MATLAB/R2023b/bin/matlab
Since MCP servers communicate over stdio, debugging can be challenging. We recommend using the MCP Inspector, which is available as a package script:
npm run inspector
The Inspector will provide a URL to access debugging tools in your browser.
